Troubleshoot your Connection

Having problems playing online? See if these common issues are preventing you from playing.

• Check @AskPlayStation for info on the PlayStation Network.
• Keep an eye on @XboxSupport for updates on Xbox LIVE services.

CHECK FOR COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Is your account banned?

You can’t access online play if your account is suspended or banned. This happens if you broke the rules in the User Agreement. If your account is suspended or banned, you will receive an email, sent to the email address associated with your account.

TRY BASIC CONNECTION TROUBLESHOOTING

Restart your router

Turn your router off and then unplug it. Wait about a minute then plug it back in, turn it back on, and try connecting again.

On a platform? Try a cold boot

• PlayStation
• Xbox
• Nintendo

Try a different Domain Name System (DNS)

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) translates internet addresses from a human-readable address (like help.ea.com) to a computer-readable one (a string of numbers) using a sort of reverse phone-book known as a Domain Name System.

If something goes wrong with the DNS you are using, you can have a terrible time trying to connect to the internet.

Switching to a different DNS is a techie trick that can help you if your DNS is unreliable.

Here are a couple of the free options that are available if you want to switch:

• Google DNS
• Open DNS

If you've ruled out issues with your account or server statuses, you can troubleshoot your connection starting with these basic steps for all platforms. These are advanced networking changes. If you're not comfortable making these changes, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for help. Make sure that you follow the steps in your router’s manual for specific instructions for your hardware.

CHECK FOR ETHERNET CABLE

Finally, are you connected via wifi or hardwired via ethernet? We HIGHLY recommend you use an ethernet cable connection for the smoothest online experience. Knockout City requires a very low-latency connection, which can be difficult to achieve with wifi connections.
